Trek beyond 5000m in lesser trekked region of Everest so that your dream to witness the rawer form of Everest Region becomes true- Gokyo Valley Trek

Gokyo Valley Trek is meant for those trekkers willing to be high on comparatively peaceful and less frequented trails of Everest region. The trek as Everest Base Camp Trek begins from Lukla, which is world's one of the most exciting airports. Though the trek does not go to Everest Base Camp or Kalapatthar, it is not an easy trek. It goes beyond 5000m to Gokyo Ri and hence trekkers require sound health to accomplish the trek.

Gokyo Valley trek is not less exciting than the popular Everest Base Camp Trek. Apart from EBC & Kalapatthar it comprises all other highlights of Everest Region. Moreover, it offers incredible beauty of world's largest glacier, Ngozumpa. From the top of Gokyo Ri the scenic 360 degree view of Himalayan giants that include Everest, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Shishapangma & Lhotse among others is one of the biggest highlights of the trek.

Apart from glaciers and mountains trekkers love Gokyo Valley Trek because of the stunning views of glacial lakes that are scattered all around the valley right under the shadows of towering Himalayan giants. As every other trek in Everest Region, Gokyo Valley Trek offers incredible glimpses of Sherpa culture, their lifestyle and the rich wildlife of highland Himalayas of Sagarmatha National Park.

  • Altitude Mountain sickness
AMS is the abbreviation for Acute Mountain sickness also termed as the High Altitude Sickness. AMS is one of the challenges that the trekkers/ climbers might face during their climb in the mountains. As you reach higher in the altitude the oxygen level gradually decreases. If a person tries to climb too quickly then there is a higher chance of getting AMS. The major symptoms of AMS is headache, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tiredness, difficulty in sleeping. However, AMS can be avoided by using some precautionary measures such as drinking plenty of water, eating enough food and walking in the steady pace. Our experienced guides who have been working in the Himalayas will help and instruct you for further measures.

Ecstatic Himalaya will provide a well-qualified and experienced guide who has a good knowledge about AMS as they can recognize the early symptoms and advise medications for instant relief. We have designed our trips in such a way that the clients get full acclimatization and proper rest. You will also be provided with a Gamow bag upon request at an additional charge which is considered a major gear to reduce the effect of AMS. In the worst case scenario, we shall arrange a rescue and evacuation using a helicopter whose cost should be covered by your travel insurance.
  •

  • Acclimatization
We are experts at operating at high-altitude. Every trip we run has a realistic acclimatization programme. Our treks are designed to allow gradual height gain, spread over a number of days. There is no way of predicting who will suffer from altitude but, for the vast majority of people, a slow ascent to height will produce minimal effects. We can provide 'Gamow Bag' as a precautionary measure as per your request on hiring basis. Acclimatizing takes time and there are no safe shortcuts. All trips to altitudes in excess of 3,000 meters carry medicines essential to the treatment of altitude illness, and our leaders are trained to administer them and to know the symptoms.
  •

  • Physical Fitness
We strongly recommend our clients for consulting the doctor before planning your holidays. You should obtain professional advice from a travel clinic or your local GP about which vaccinations to have before you arrive in Nepal. Your doctor will advise current inoculation requirements. If a doctor has recommended against travel or indicated travel may be inconvenient then inform us of the details. On all trekking and exploratory trips technical experience is not required, hiking/camping experience is an advantage, but by far the most important thing is a positive attitude and a generous amount of determination. We strictly maintain hygiene foods on the trek. We carry extensive medical kits and, if the need should ever arise, we are able to evacuate seriously ill group members by helicopter. We run regular first aid courses for our all trekking guides and Sherpa helpers.
