Enjoy the magnificence of Himalayan panorama and diverse culture during the easiest trek in Nepal- Royal Trek

The shortest and the easiest trek in Annapurna Region, the Royal Trek has a significant history. In early eighties, the British Royal family including Prince Charles and his entourage of ninety people trekked along these trails, since then the name of the trek popularly became the Royal Trek.

Without putting much effort and relatively walking shorter hours throughout the trek days, Royal trek caters splendid highlights and mild walking adventure in the Himalayan foothill. The trek is designed for those trekkers willing to experience the mountainous walk without issues like altitude sickness. This is the most ideal trek for those trekkers having limited time and are restricted for strenuous high altitude walk; however, have strong will to feel and closely witness the pleasure of Himalayan trek.

The trek begins from the scenic laketown Pokhara. Unlike all other other treks of Annapurna Region, the Royal Trek chases the pleasant woodlands above Begnas Lake A four day long trek offers incredible Himalayan panorama spreading from Dhaulagiri to Manaslu Rnages with Annapurna, Nilgiri and Fishtail in between. The diverse culture of tribal clans like Gurung, Magar, Brahmin & Chettri are unavoidable highlights of the trek. Moreover, the trek also highlights the possible sights of several species of bird raptors.

Since, the trek has been off the beaten route these days, accommodation are based on locally operated homestay lodges, which would allow trekkers to experience unique but different aspect of hospitality.

Bullet point Highlights:

  • Heritage Sites of Kathmandu
  • Tourist Town Pokhara
  • Traditional tribal Villages,

Today, we drive 200 km along the snaky Prithwi Highway to Pokhara. The highway that most of the times runs above Himalayan Rivers offers an adventurous drive. Moreover, the local lifestyles in frequent highway towns and lush vegetation are interesting aspects to observe during the drive. Once, we reach Pokhara we check into our Hotel in Lakeside and set out to explore the tourist hub in town. Pokhara is the city decorated with lakes and panoramic Himalayan views. It is also the biggest adventurous hub of the country. The city is famous amongst trekkers because it is the starting point for Annapurna Region Treks.

Day 03:: Drive to Bijayapur and trek to Kalikasthan 1,370m/4,496ft 4-5 hrs trek

To begin the trek we drive to Bijayapur, which is thirty minutes drive from Pokhara. From Bijayapur our trek begins. Savoring the superb views of terraced farmlands and himalayan panorama we head towards Taalbesi Bazaar. A small town located at the bank of Begnas Lake has enough cultural activities. Then we climb uphill towards Kalikasthan. The trail to Kalikasthan caters frequent views of Himalayan peaks like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri peak amon others. As we arrive to Kalikasthan, we check into a local taehouse and head towards Thulakot, a hilltop just over Kalikasthan for the sunset view. The view of sun setting down from Thulakot is wonderful. Himalayas glitter like gold in the north and deep valley with green Begnas at its base look magical from here. Overnight at Kalikasthan.

Day 04:: Trek to Syaklung 1,730m/5,675ft 5-6 hrs trek

Today's trek mostly treads the ridgeline trail and hence we get enough opportunities to savor the beautiful Himalayan panorama. The Himalayan peaks we get to see include Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Fishtail, Lamjung and Manaslu among others. Moreover, walking through pleasant rhododendron forests and frequently emerging to culturally important villages like Thumsikot and Lipyani are other delightful highlights of the trek. Throughout the trek the view of beautiful valley expanding gradually from terraced fields to green lakes will feast our eyes. On reaching Syaklung we stay in a locally owned homestay lodge for the night.

Day 05:: Trek to Chisapani 1550m/5,084ft 5-6 hrs trek

Todays' trek descends down along the beautiful rhododendron forests to Sarke Bhanjyang and then climbs uphill to get to a beautifully located Gurung Village, Mohoria that offers the beautiful Himalayan panorama. From Mohoria a pleasant walk through the woodlands gets you to scattered village of Chisapani. Chisapani, a village on a hill overlooking lakes like Khastey, Begnas and Rupa also offers the great Himalayan panorama. Overnight in a homestay lodge in Chisapani.

  • Altitude Mountain sickness
AMS is the abbreviation for Acute Mountain sickness also termed as the High Altitude Sickness. AMS is one of the challenges that the trekkers/ climbers might face during their climb in the mountains. As you reach higher in the altitude the oxygen level gradually decreases. If a person tries to climb too quickly then there is a higher chance of getting AMS. The major symptoms of AMS is headache, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tiredness, difficulty in sleeping. However, AMS can be avoided by using some precautionary measures such as drinking plenty of water, eating enough food and walking in the steady pace. Our experienced guides who have been working in the Himalayas will help and instruct you for further measures.

Ecstatic Himalaya will provide a well-qualified and experienced guide who has a good knowledge about AMS as they can recognize the early symptoms and advise medications for instant relief. We have designed our trips in such a way that the clients get full acclimatization and proper rest. You will also be provided with a Gamow bag upon request at an additional charge which is considered a major gear to reduce the effect of AMS. In the worst case scenario, we shall arrange a rescue and evacuation using a helicopter whose cost should be covered by your travel insurance.
  •

  • Acclimatization
We are experts at operating at high-altitude. Every trip we run has a realistic acclimatization programme. Our treks are designed to allow gradual height gain, spread over a number of days. There is no way of predicting who will suffer from altitude but, for the vast majority of people, a slow ascent to height will produce minimal effects. We can provide 'Gamow Bag' as a precautionary measure as per your request on hiring basis. Acclimatizing takes time and there are no safe shortcuts. All trips to altitudes in excess of 3,000 meters carry medicines essential to the treatment of altitude illness, and our leaders are trained to administer them and to know the symptoms.
  •

  • Physical Fitness
We strongly recommend our clients for consulting the doctor before planning your holidays. You should obtain professional advice from a travel clinic or your local GP about which vaccinations to have before you arrive in Nepal. Your doctor will advise current inoculation requirements. If a doctor has recommended against travel or indicated travel may be inconvenient then inform us of the details. On all trekking and exploratory trips technical experience is not required, hiking/camping experience is an advantage, but by far the most important thing is a positive attitude and a generous amount of determination. We strictly maintain hygiene foods on the trek. We carry extensive medical kits and, if the need should ever arise, we are able to evacuate seriously ill group members by helicopter. We run regular first aid courses for our all trekking guides and Sherpa helpers.
