Flying in to the Himalayan nation Nepal is different in itself. Witness the towering Himalayan giant’s minutes before landing Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu if the weather permits. Enjoy the cordial Nepalese welcome in arrival terminals of the airport and drive to your designated hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu & Trek Preparation Day
Actually this day is a trek preparation day. As our team is preparing the required permits for Upper Mustang Trek; you May visit to Kathmandu most beautiful locales where culture history and the heritage of the ancient town spills in every corner. Explore the biggest hub of Hinduism in Nepal Pashupatinath where travelers get to experience the important aspects of the religion. Stroll around Boudhanath, a large dome shaped stupa where Tibetan culture and Buddhism are seen at its best. Exploration of Kathmandu Durbar Square is an awesome experience as it takes you to Nepal’s one of the oldest architectural landmarks where local Newari culture also has been prospering for ages.
Day 03:: Drive to Pokhara 200km 7-8 hrs drive
Today, we drive 200 km along the snaky Prithwi Highway to Pokhara. The highway that most of the times runs above Himalayan Rivers offers an adventurous drive. Moreover, the local lifestyles in frequent highway towns and lush vegetation are interesting aspects to observe during the drive. Once, we reach Pokhara we check into our Hotel in Lakeside and set out to explore the tourist hub in town. Pokhara is the city decorated with lakes and panoramic Himalayan views. It is also the biggest adventurous hub of the country. The city is famous amongst trekkers because it is the starting point for Annapurna Region Treks.
Day 04:: Fly to Jomsom 2720m, Trek to Kagbeni 2,800m/9,186ft 3-4 hrs trek
The flight to Jomsom is an outstanding experience. You will witness the glowing mountain besides you while below, you will see the terraced green fields and villages. As soon as you reach Jomsom, you will have an introduction with the powerful wind which will accompany you throughout your trek.
After a short break, you will start your trek. You will soon notice the change of the landscapes that is the major highlight of this trek. Today’s walk is pretty easy. After a walk of 5-6 hours, you will reach Kagbeni where you will stay for the night.
Day 05:: Trek to Chele 3,050m/10,006ft 6-7 hrs trek
Today you enter into the restricted area of Upper Mustang. You will have a pleasant walk throughout the day with easy ascends and descends. After 5-6 hours of walking, you will reach Chuksang. Chuksang is the habitat of Thakali people. You can also explore the old village nearby in the evening. As you leave Chuksang, you will follow the trail along the cliff above the thrilling Kaligandaki River and reach Chele for the overnight stay.
Samar is a beautiful village with just few houses. There is a monastery nearby. The landscape will be quite different from the earlier day. The view from the place is wonderful which set out to be the perfect place for outdoor entertainment.
Day 06:: Trek to Geiling 3,440m/11,286ft 5-6 hrs trek
You leave Chele early in the morning. Crossing a pass you reach to Chunksi Gompa in around 3 hours. The Gompa is inside a cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated during his time. The Mandala inside the cave is said to be growing naturally. Again, you will start your trek alongside the trial of Kali Gandaki River. After a couple of hours of walking, you will reach to Syangmochen. Syangmochen bestows a great view of Himalayan Panaroma including the mountains like Nilgiri, Thorung and Tilicho. Then you move towards Geiling. You ascend a small hill and then descend all the way down to Geiling.
Once you reach Geiling, you can hike around the village in the evening. You can visit to the monasteries lying on the top of the village with the backdrop of amazing mountains.
Day 07:: Trek to Charang 3,490m/11,450ft 6-7 hrs trek
You leave Geiling early in the morning so that you can avoid the powerful wind later on the day while you cross the Jwoyte La Pass(3851m). This Pass is the highest point of the trek. Then you start descending until you reach the beautiful village of Ghami. From Ghami, it is going to be an uphill ascend until you reach Tsharang. You will pass through Dhakmar; another important landmark from the time of Guru Padmasambhav on the way.
Day 08:: Trek to Lo Manthang 3,730m/12,237ft
Today you trek to your ultimate destination of the trek. You will ascend and descends on some part while most of day you walk on plain land. After 5-6 hours of walking, you will reach Lo-Manthang. You can use the rest of the day for rest or you can walk take a walk around the Wall City.
Day 09:: Explore around Lomanthang
Today, you will hike to Chosar a nearby village where you will visit a cave. The Zhong Cave is belived to be an artificial cave made by locals in ancient time for their protection when the village was attacked. The cave has more than 100 rooms. There is also a monastery nearby the cave. Then you return to Lo-Manthang. On your way back, you will visit to the Nyamgel Monastery.
We will also explore the city of Lomanthang. You will have a guided tour of the Wall City. You will visit to Thupchen Monastery; the biggest monastery of the region. You will also visit to a Tibetan Hospital that practices Amchi treatment. You will take walk inside the city where you will explore the lifestyle and culture of the locals. You will also see the palace of the King of Lo-Manthang. You will also visit the museum Lo-Manthang.
Day 10:: Trek to Ghami via Ghar Gompa 6-7 hrs trek
Today, you leave Lomanthang and start your trek back. You will walk for around 6 hours. You will visit to Ghar Gompa on the way, the oldest monastery of the region built back in 8th century. You will cross Ghami La Pass (3800m) and from there it’s almost the downhill walk till Ghami. You can visit the monastery nearby the village.
Day 11:: Trek to Samar 3620m 5-6 hrs trek
You ascend till Jwoyte La Pass and desend till Geiling. From there it is a short uphill walk then again a downhill walk till Chunksi Cave. From there you walk uphill and cross a pass and then descend downhill until you reach Samar. You will walk for around 7 hours today.
Day 12:: Trek to Kagbeni 5-6 hrs trek
It is almost downhill steep walk above the cliff of Kaligandaki River until you reach Chele. Then you will walk alongside the bank of the river until Chuksang. Then with some normal ascends and descends you will emerge at Kagbeni exiting from the restricted area of Upper Mustang. Today you will walk for around 7 hours.
Day 13:: Trek to Jomsom 5-6 hrs trek
Today’s walk is quite easy. With almost no ascends or descends, you will walk on the plain lands alongside the river. You will reach Jomsom enjoying the scenic view of mountains in around 5 hours walk.
Day 14:: Fly to Pokhara
With a 15 minutes flight from the windy city Jomsom, you will land on Pokhara. You can celebrate the end of your trek in the beautiful city of Pokhara which is an exotic place to overcome the tiredness of the trek.
Day 15:: Drive back to Kathmandu
Today we drive back to Kathmandu along Prithiwi Highway. Enjoy the drive. As we arrive to Kathmandu we will check into our hotel in the city. Evening on your own.
Day 16:: Depart Kathmandu
Our representative will escort to the airport for the final see off to your onward destination. Have a safe flight and visit Nepal time and again we have much more to show.
