Namche Bazaar

 

Namche Bazaar is a gateway of Everest that is situated at 3,500 m. It contains a market that sells everything from tiny art crafts to big climbing equipment. Namche Bazar is famous for homemade Yak cheese and butter. It is a historic trading centre that is situated on mountain slope that allows beautiful view of peaks. Namche Bazar was once a capital of Khumbu where Sherpas used to gather and trade and it still continues the Sherpa hospitality. It is one of the famous little village in Everest route that is dominated by Sherpas. Namche Bazar has internet access with best hotels and restaurants. Saturdays are special in Namche Bazar because of the weekly market that is placed in the middle of the town where the traders from nearby villages and Tibet come to sell their products. One can spend few days in this town for acclimatization.
